Jesus’ First Miracle

John 2:11

You’ve probably heard, or even know, the story.

Jesus was at a wedding in Cana. He was there with his mother and some of his disciples. The custom was for a wedding to go for a number of days and in that time they’d run out of wine. Mary came to Jesus and told them the situation. Jesus then told the servants to fill 6 stone jars with water. They drew the water, took it to the master of the banquet, and he determined that it was the best wine.

That was Jesus’ first miracle. Now, the miracle is important because it shows Jesus power over nature. To be able to change water into wine is incredible, but it’s not the most important thing. John shows us what it is in John chapter 2 he said

This, the beginning of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him. –John 2:11

What’s the importance of this great miracle of turning water into wine?

It reveals Jesus’ glory. It reveals that he is not just a man, but also true God. What does God want you to do with this information? He wants you to process it and to believe in Jesus. This first of his miracles shows us that God came as our Savior, that God came to take away our sins, and that we should believe in him.

So come to Jesus. See the great things that he has done to reveal his glory and trust that he is your savior from sin. Amen.
