Some people have gone to tremendous lengths to build impressive mausoleums or tombs. What makes a tomb great and impressive?
I do have to say, when people are interpreting Christmas Carol, I think that they miss some of the critical elements.
That fever will actually cause our body or help our body to overcome the sickness, and throwing up can actually expel whatever's causing the problem to get out of our stomach and get out of our system. It's interesting to think about those things as terrible as they are to go through that they actually can be beneficial, ultimately, good for us.
Why does Easter matter? Or to put it another way, what would be missing without Easter?
Did Jesus actually, really, truly, physically walk out of the grave on Easter morning? Did he actually rise from the dead? Is that believable?
What is the opposite of Chaos? It's Peace. It's the Peace that Jesus first shared with his disciples when he appeared to them in the upper room on Easter evening.
Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed!
"They have taken away my Lord..." The tomb was empty and for Mary there was only one explanation. The body had been taken. Mary stood outside facing the tomb, weeping.
When Jesus suffered and died on the cross, he was taking the sting of your sins into his own body.
Seeing someone's grave is a reminder of the reality of death. And even our own. But we can have this comfort: Jesus is risen we can look forward to being reunited in heaven.
He's lost his source of income. He's lost his wealth. He's lost his house. He's lost his kids. He's lost his wife. He's even lost his own health too. Yet his proclamation of faith was astounding.
Jesus has the power to calm even the raging weather. Jesus has the power to calm all the storms that we face in our lives as well.
