How many cat videos have you seen in your Facebook feed today?

It’s amazing all of the different videos and posts that will be in your newsfeed: political agendas, pets, whatever it could be. What’s really important?

In Colossians chapter 3 we read:

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. –Colossians 3:1-2

It is so easy for us to get caught up in our earthly lives. We’re busy rushing to work, rushing here and there, after kids, whatever it may be. It’s so easy to be focused on only the here and now, but there’s a more important aspect to our lives.

It’s our life above. One day we are going to die. One day our life here on earth will end and at that point our relationship with Jesus is the only thing that will matter.

So God tells us to keep our mind set on things above where our Savior Jesus is dwelling. Remember that he came to this earth to live and die in our place so that one day we could ascend and be with him in heaven.

So when you look at your feed, videos like this are important because they remind us of our life above. Our life in heaven.

Take a part of each day to remember what Jesus has done for you then you will live out your life assured that God loves you and you will be in heaven. Amen.
