World Religions

Romans 6:23b

Have you ever wondered if there’s really that big of a difference between the world religions?

Sure they all have their different customs, different holy days, different set of rules, but aren’t they all trying to achieve the same thing? Some sort of higher state of being whether in this life or the next? Aren’t they trying to do it in pretty much the same way? “If you do your best, try your hardest, to follow our rules, our commandments, then you’ll get there?”

Well the Christian religion is very different from all other religions. Not promising heaven to those who do well or try their hardest, but rather giving heaven to us as a free gift.

God in His mercy and love decided that he himself would pay the price for our heaven, our eternal life, and he does it through His Son Jesus Christ. The Bible passage today is from Romans 6:23 where it says this:

but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. —Romans 6:23b

God gives eternal life, heaven, not as something we merit or earn, but as a free gift.

What a refreshing difference we see in Christianity to see that Christianity is not all about what we do for God, but rather what God has done for us through His Son Jesus Christ. Amen.
