You are a Welcome Guest

How do you prepare for guests? Jesus went to heaven to prepare a place for you. To get your room ready. Praise God for his mercy!

John 14:2-3

When we have guests coming to our house my wife makes sure that the guest room is ready. Clean sheets on the bed, clean towels ready for them, she wants them to know from the moment they walk into the house that they are welcome and wanted.

Jesus told his disciples that he was going away to prepare a place for them. In John chapter 14 he said

In my Father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to be with me, so that you may also be where I am. (John 14:2-3)

Jesus has ascended into heaven with a special task for you. To get your room ready. He wants you to be there with him forever. Just think about what Jesus did so that that could happen. He came down from heaven as a man, lived a perfect life, died an innocent death in your place, suffered for your sins, and rose again on the third day.

Jesus was willing to pay whatever price necessary so that you could live in the father’s house. So don’t think that he has gone to heaven and forgotten about you, he’s busy getting your place ready, your room ready in heaven.

So trust him, trust his word which declares this truth and one day you will see it with your own eyes. You are a welcome guest in heaven. Amen.
