Intricate Design

"Simple" celled organisms are not that simple. God speaks through creation to tell us that he exists.

Psalm 19

Recently, I’ve been doing some digging into the structure of even simple cells and simple organisms. And it’s just amazing the design that they possess. For instance, a fairly simple bacteria often has a flagellum which is a tail like thing coming off the back of the bacteria that helps move it. Well, that’s actually how it moves. The flagellum is intricately designed. It has a rotor, a stator, a clutch, and a brake. And it can spin at a 100,000 RPM. A hundred thousand revolutions per minute. Just amazing!

It reminds me of what God says in Psalm 19.

The heavens tell about the glory of God.
The expanse of the sky proclaims the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour out speech.
Night after night they display knowledge.
They do not speak. They say no words.
Their voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out into all the earth,
and their word reaches the end of the world. (Psalm 19)

God speaks through creation to tell us that he exists. We can look at the intricate design of things and know that an intelligent being must’ve put this together. God does that so that you can know he exists. And he has given you his Word. Another incredible gift to mankind, so that you can know how to be in right relationship with him.

He is not only designed you, but he has also redeemed you. He loves you and sent Jesus to rescue you from your sins so that you can be with him in heaven.

So look at creation and marvel at the intelligence of God. And look at the cross and marvel at God’s love for you. Amen.
