But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. Galatians 4:4-5

Do you have a hard time waiting to open your presents?

I know sometimes I do. See them sitting under the tree in the days and weeks leading up to Christmas. You’re wondering what’s in there? What’s for you? It’s hard to wait.

I’m sure the Old Testament believers found it hard to wait too. Adam and Eve had been told to a savior would be born. They didn’t see it in their lifetime. Abraham, same thing. David, same thing. Those Old Testament believers had to wait, but when the time was just right God sent Jesus. In Galatians chapter 4 we read

But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. —Galatians 4:4-5

When the time had fully come. God made the Old Testament Saints wait for the fulfillment of his prophecies concerning the Savior, but when the time was right Jesus was born. In God’s time he fulfilled those prophecies to send the son to be the savior of the world.

When the time was right, he had that son suffer and die to take away the sins of the world.

When the time was right he raised him from the dead so that we can know that it is true.

This great gift, the gift of Jesus, required that many wait patiently, but you don’t have to wait. He’s here for you today. He is your savior he is God’s gift to you. Amen.
