Are you Anxious?

Philippians 4:6

Does something have you up late at night, tossing and turning, cold sweats? Something gnawing at your stomach? What has you anxious? Relationship? Health? School? Finances? What are we to do with anxiety?

God tells us in Philippians chapter 4 verse 6:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. –Philippians 4:6

If you’re anxious, God wants you to come to him in prayer.

Now let’s think about this.

Is there any problem that you have that is so big that God cannot handle it? Well, God’s the Almighty. He can handle anything.

Is there then anything so small that God doesn’t care? God tells us he’s numbered the hairs on our head, so clearly, he cares about even the small things in our lives.

So God, whether you have big problems or small, is there to take your anxiety away.

Some people realize that God has the power to handle their problems, but they wonder if he is willing. They wonder if he really will deal with their problems and answer their prayers.

The only guarantee we have of that is Jesus, because Jesus was willing to handle our greatest problem. The thing that should cause us the greatest anxiety. Since God came in the flesh to deal with that problem, he took it away so that we are forgiven.

Our sins need not cause us any anxiety anymore. God has washed them away.

So are you anxious about something? Your gracious God invites you to come to him, with all of your anxieties, and lay them at his feet. He promises that he will take care of them so that the peace of God will rule in your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Amen.
