Watch on YouTube – Watch on Facebook

When I was young and growing up on a farm I would often ride along with my father in the tractor as he worked the fields. And when I rode with him I always had to have a job. I wanted to help. And so dad would often have me just run the hydraulic levers to raise and lower the equipment as he made the turns. It didn’t seem like much but it was something I can do to help.

You know as Christians, as we love one another, we look for ways in which we can help each other. But often we can’t be right next to the people that need our help the most. Today I’d like you to consider how we can help the men and women who serve in our military.

In the book of Romans Chapter 13 God is talking about are government servants and it extends into our military servants and he refers to them as God’s servants, for your good.

For he [the authority] is God’s servant for your good. (Romans 13:4)

These men and women are serving their nation and they’re serving you. And often their service can be quite difficult. They can be separated from their families for long periods of time. They can serve in unfamiliar places even very dangerous places and we can’t be right there to lend a hand.

But there’s certainly something we can do. Pray for your soldiers. Pray for their safety. Pray for the military families who are left back at home. Remember to praise God for all the protection and guidance he has given them so far as they do their duties to keep us safe.

Remember God is always trying to protect us and watch over us. Jesus came to be the ultimate soldier for us as he lived and served for us and then gave his life to save us from destruction. Our spiritual enemies of Satan and sin. They threaten us constantly. But Jesus came to overcome them and win us eternal freedom in heaven.

God continues to extend his care and his protection into our lives as well in part through the men and women who serve in our military. So remember to keep them in your prayers. We can’t be right there with them, we can’t lend a hand, but God tells us that he hears our prayers. He tells us that our prayers have a powerful effect.

So pray for them. Praise God for sending Jesus who saved us eternally. Thank God for giving us so many who are willing to serve us and keep us safe. To God alone be the glory. Amen.

Pastor, when I die, do I become an angel? Once again we're joined by Pastor James Kassera (currently serving Divine Mercy in Hudson Oaks, TX) to answer another common question about heaven.

Matthew 22:30, Hebrews 1:14

Pastor, when I die, do I become an angel?

This can be a really interesting question because there are things about heaven and angels that, you know, we just aren’t told in the Bible. And then we look around us and we can commonly see those sayings about someone dying and finally getting their wings.

And maybe we’re tempted to think that we’ll become angels when we die because deep down we know that right now we’re sinners and we just don’t fit next to a perfect God in a perfect heaven but angels, they’re in heaven, so maybe we’ll become an angel so we’ll just fit better.

You know as we look to the scriptures we can see definitely that we don’t become angels when we die because Angels and mankind are two separate created beings.

In the Book of Matthew 22. Jesus mentions that when the believer dies we will become like the angels as we live in heaven.

At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. (Matthew 22:30)

Not that we will become an angel. Really God just sees us very differently. The angels are certainly a very special creation and we find in the book of Hebrews that the angels are ministering spirits who are sent out to serve for the sake of those who will inherit salvation.

Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? (Hebrews 1:14)

The angels were created to serve God’s children to help protect us from the various attacks of evil in life. We also are God’s special created beings. We are so special that God took on human flesh in order to live, suffer, and die for us to remove our sins so he could bring us home to be with him in heaven.

Certainly the angels they do play a very special role in our lives but we are very special too. God created us and then saved us from our sins to redeem us so that he could see us as perfect once again. We don’t need to become angels when we die we’re already God’s special creation and Jesus has done everything to make certain that we truly have a home in heaven.

To God be the glory. Amen.

Pastor, why is the Devil always after us?

This can be a really great question because it feels like we haven’t done anything to the Devil. We haven’t taken anything, we haven’t harmed him in anyway. Why is it always tormenting us and tempting us?

Well, I’m sorry to break it to you, but he just doesn’t like you. And actually it goes deeper than that. Satan has a hatred for our God. Since creation, Satan has always rebelled and fought against the desires of God and that’s really where it carries over to us. We find in first Timothy chapter two verse four that

[God] wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:4)

And so, of course, Satan wants the exact opposite. He doesn’t want you to know the truth. He doesn’t want you to be saved. He wants you to be destroyed so that God does not get what he desires. Sadly, we can kind of play right in the Satan’s plans. We can allow parts of our lives to be lived in opposition to God’s word and we can think foolishly that that won’t affect our relationship with him. We can have sins in our lives that we don’t struggle and fight against, but instead we just enjoy and we think it’s no big deal and Satan is getting just what he wants, because he knows that every sin, it harms our faith. It separates us from God and it really threatens that Salvation that God wants for us.

But know also that God’s will is not so easily silenced. He sent his only Son, Jesus to be our Savior. And Jesus, He faced all the temptations in the attacks of Satan as well, but he didn’t fail, not even one time. He remained perfect and went to the cross to erase all of the sins from our record.

Satan, he’s going to continue to attack and continue to try and destroy you, but God’s will is gonna continue to work as well. God gave us his word in the Bible where he gives us this knowledge of the truth which the Holy Spirit works in our hearts as he works repentance and this true saving faith. And this faith then claims us as God’s children whom he protects. Whom he forgives. Whom he promises eternal salvation.

Satan, he’s gonna keep attacking because it doesn’t like you. But God loves you, he is the almighty and he wants nothing more than for you to be with him forever in the kingdom of heaven. God bless us in this comforting truth. Amen.
