A Blessed Life

Psalm 107:1

“I don’t believe in God but he must believe in me.”

A friend of mine told me that a couple of times. He was an atheist and didn’t believe in God and at first I didn’t understand what he meant.

What he meant was this: he didn’t believe in God, but when he looked at his life he realized that someone had shown him favor. That he had had a blessed life.

Where do our blessings come from? They come from God.

What should be our response to the blessings that we see in our lives? It should be to give thanks.

In Psalm 107 we read:

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. – Psalm 107:1

Give thanks to the Lord because he loves us. We see this in the earthly blessings that he showers upon us. Our family and friends, our homes, our clothes, food that we eat, but the greatest thing that God has done for us was done for us in his son. He gave us Jesus to live and die so that we can be with him forever in heaven.

That is not a blessing that we should forget because it provides for us not only here in time, but hereafter in eternity. So give thanks to the Lord for he is good. His love endures forever. Amen.
